I became a toxicologist when working for Unilever doing safety assessment for cosmetics and household products. 28 years later, I became an independent consultant toxicologist, specialising in matters of skin and respiratory allergy and irritation, topics in which I have had a long involvement. The work has led to many publications in medical and toxicology journals, and I have chaired several international committees on aspects of consumer safety, especially relating to cosmetic products. One particular interest has been allergy and hair dyes and I have both lectured on this topic and given expert witness evidence.
Outside work, I am married and have two grown up daughters. In my free time, I go cycling and enjoy wildlife photography, especially in the jungles of the world.
