The Trichology Conference 2019 sponsored by the ART (Association of Registered Trichologists), held at the Institute of Physics (iOP) in Central London, included presentations, activities and networking throughout the day. We’d like to thank the iOP for the use of this stunning venue, and the students, ART members and the trichology community for their positive response to the event.
“Venue was easy to find and the staff were very helpful.”
This year’s trichology conference was based on feedback from 2018, which provided the opportunity for an all new interactive experience. Presentations from world class speakers Wil Fleeson and Jacky van Driel-Nguene were followed by practical demonstrations and trichology know-how.
Code of practice
“The ethical voice of trichology” was the quote championed by event sponsors, the ART, and echoed by speakers throughout the day. Wil Fleeson, Founding Partner of Trichology Scotland, kicked of the day with his own experience of setting up trichology practices in Sterling and Glasgow.
“Inspiring speakers and a real insight into the world of trichology indegenerique.be/.”
For anyone who is interested in qualifying as a Trichologist and would like to follow Wil’s footsteps by qualifying with TrichoCare Education, now is the time to enrol and receive a 25% discount on the Level IV Certificate in Trichology. This offer is exclusive to TrichoCare Conference 2019 attendees.
Mixing it up
Jacky van Driel, TrichoCare’s Student of the Year 2017, delighted the audience with guidance on trichology services, treatments and the most useful trichology equipment for a start-up practice. Jacky drew on her own journey, from Level IV Certificate in Trichology student to Registered Trichologist ART, which proved invaluable for newly qualified attendees who are setting up for the first time.
“Informative, relevant and interesting – Jacky is awesome.”
As a hair health professional specialising in trichology an emphasis was placed on providing ethical services, the need to thoroughly research product claims, and the treatment parameters concurrent with what is needed, for hair loss, hair thinning and other hair and scalp diseases, to provide benefits.
Formulas and functions
Toxicology and cosmetology experts, David Basketter and Stephen Kirk respectively, offered insights on the best use of familiar products and their ingredients. An interesting talk for anyone who plans to offer treatments with a background knowledge of what each ingredient does and how it compares to other products on the market.
“Lots of valuable information!”
Attendees were invited before the event to submit their ingredients lists and questions using #trichoworkshop on social media. The results of an afternoon spent researching together provided valuable insights into the cosmetic industry, ingredients and labelling from a trichology perspective.
Awards for 2019
The Trichology Conference not only delivered trichology know-how, but the opportunity to network over lunch and at the Awards drinks reception. Brian Plunkett, Head of TrichoCare Education, proudly presented the following awards to students who have qualified this year (also available on Listly).
- Student of the Year 2019: Kathryn Nash
- Achievement Award: Angela Stoker
- Development Award: Demi Griffiths
